The government is encouraging us to find flu friends before we become ill with swine flu. A flu friend is someone who will collect medicines if you are ill, rather than your having to leave home.
This idea was suggested in a government booklet about Swine Flu which was sent to us all - click here to see the booklet.
We are based in Farnham, Surrey, and if you don’t know people in the Farnham area who could be your flu friend then we want to see if we can help. Maybe you are far from your family, or have recently arrived here from another country. You might be one of the many international students studying in Farnham, or you might just not know anyone you can ask to be your flu friend.
If you need a flu friend we aim to pair you up with one of our volunteers of the same sex who is willing to help in this way. They will get in touch with you, and give you a card with their contact details. You can keep this in a safe place, and give them a call if you do get the flu.
This scheme is set up by people from Farnham Baptist Church, because Christians are always keen to help in their community. You can see more about Farnham Baptist Church, and the other things we offer in this area, by clicking here
Once we have sent you your flu friend’s contact details it is up to you to make contact - we will not be making any unwanted calls or visits. Of course you are welcome to ask your flu friend to call or visit you, but the request must come from you, not us. Your contact details will come to our flu friend co-ordinator and your individual flu friend, but not to anyone else without your express permission. We don’t do any marketing or spam emailing!
